These adorable Mummy Jalapeño Popper Bites are a fun and delicious Halloween appetizer made with crescent dough, creamy jalapeño filling, and candy eyeballs. Quick to prepare and perfect for parties, they’re a crowd-pleaser that will disappear fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4–5 jalapeños, seeded and finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 24 candy eyeballs
  • Ranch dressing or sour cream for dipping (optional)
  • Fresh chives or green onions, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, diced jalapeños, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Open the can of crescent rolls and unroll the dough. Separate along perforations into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 thin strips to get 24 strips total.
  4. Take one strip of dough and place about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture near one end. Fold the dough over the filling, then continue wrapping the strip around itself, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes. Repeat with all strips.
  5. Press two candy eyeballs gently into the exposed gap on each mummy.
  6. Arrange the mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown and filling is bubbly.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter. Serve warm with ranch dressing or sour cream for dipping, and garnish with chopped chives if desired.

Notes

Don’t overfill the dough strips; about 1 teaspoon per strip is perfect. Keep the dough cold to prevent stickiness. Seal the edges to prevent filling from leaking. Use a pizza cutter for clean strips. Parchment paper is essential for easy cleanup. Assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate; add 2-3 minutes to baking time if baking from cold.
