This recipe delivers crispy, juicy chicken wings coated in a simple, flavorful 3-ingredient buffalo sauce. Perfect for quick game day snacks or casual gatherings, made effortlessly in the air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (900g) chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes, fresh or thawed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the buffalo sauce:
  • ½ cup (120ml) hot sauce (Frank’s RedHot recommended)
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. Pat 2 pounds (900g) of chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Toss wings in 1 tablespoon of olive or avocado oil, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste, coating evenly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Place wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Air fry wings at 400°F (200°C) for 25-28 minutes, flipping every 8-10 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Add 3-5 more minutes for extra crispiness if desired.
  6. While wings cook, melt ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
  7. Stir in ½ cup (120ml) hot sauce and 1 tablespoon honey until smooth and well combined.
  8. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl, pour buffalo sauce over, and toss with tongs until evenly coated.
  9. Serve immediately with celery sticks and your favorite dipping sauce such as ranch or blue cheese.

Notes

Patting wings dry is essential for crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Flip wings halfway through cooking. Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Warm sauce slightly if it thickens before tossing wings. For dairy-free sauce, substitute butter with coconut oil or plant-based margarine.
