These quick and easy pinwheel sandwiches combine soft bread, creamy cream cheese, and sweet strawberry jam for a perfect party snack or light treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed (can substitute whole wheat)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
  • Fresh strawberries, thinly sliced (optional, for garnish or inside pinwheels)

Instructions

  1. Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface or cutting board. Use a sharp knife to carefully trim off the crusts from each slice, creating uniform squares.
  2. Make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature to spread smoothly. If too cold, microwave for 10 seconds without melting.
  3. Using a spreading knife or offset spatula, spread a thin, even layer of cream cheese over each slice of bread, starting from the center and working outwards.
  4. Dollop about 1 tablespoon of strawberry jam onto each cream cheese layer. Spread evenly but leave a small border around edges to prevent sogginess.
  5. Starting from one edge, gently roll each slice tightly into a log. For extra firmness, wrap rolls in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Using a sharp knife, cut each roll into 1-inch thick pinwheels, yielding about 4-5 pinwheels per slice of bread.
  7. Arrange pinwheels on a serving platter, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar if desired, and garnish with fresh strawberry slices.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese to avoid tearing bread. Trim crusts for easier rolling. Chill rolls before slicing for cleaner cuts. Warm bread slightly if too dry. Substitute gluten-free bread or plant-based cream cheese for dietary needs.
