This easy Halloween popcorn mix combines crunchy popcorn, salty pretzels, chewy candy corn, and creamy white chocolate for the perfect sweet-and-salty treat. It’s quick to make, uses simple ingredients, and is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser at any Halloween party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups plain popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels, or one standard bag of microwave popcorn, popped and unbuttered)
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable oil (optional, only if using regular white chocolate chips)
  • 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional but highly recommended)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn. If using an air popper, run it until you have about 8 cups of popcorn. If using microwave popcorn, pop one standard bag (unbuttered) and remove any unpopped kernels. Spread the popcorn out on a baking sheet to cool for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prep your pretzels and candy corn. Measure out 2 cups of mini pretzel twists and 1 cup of candy corn. If your pretzels are large, break them into smaller pieces. Set them aside with the popcorn.
  3. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  4. Melt the white chocolate. Place 1 1/2 cups of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted (about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes total). If the chocolate seems too thick, stir in 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled popcorn, pretzels, and candy corn. Toss gently with your hands to distribute everything evenly.
  6. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture. Use a spatula to gently fold everything together until every piece is coated (about 2 minutes).
  7. Pour the coated mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into an even layer. Sprinkle the flaky sea salt over the top while the chocolate is still wet.
  8. Let the mix cool completely at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes, or in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, until the chocolate is fully set and firm.
  9. Once set, break the mix into pieces with your hands. Some pieces will be small, some will be clusters.

Notes

Don’t use buttered popcorn—it makes the chocolate slide off. Cool popcorn completely before adding chocolate to prevent sogginess. Work quickly once chocolate is melted. For best results, use fresh candy corn (Brach’s is recommended). Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Do not refrigerate.
