These easy mummy pigs in a blanket are a fun and simple Halloween dinner made with just four ingredients. Ready in under 25 minutes, they’re a crowd-pleaser that kids and adults love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • Mustard for eyes (yellow mustard recommended)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated crescent rolls, press the seams together gently with your fingers to form a solid rectangle.
  3. Cut the dough into strips lengthwise using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, about 1/2 inch wide. You’ll need 16 to 24 strips total (2 to 3 strips per hot dog).
  4. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese (about 1/4 teaspoon) down the center of each hot dog.
  5. Wrap each hot dog with 2 to 3 strips of dough, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes. Start at one end and wrap diagonally, overlapping slightly. Don’t wrap too tightly.
  6. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  8. Let them cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet.
  9. Add the mustard eyes using a toothpick. Dip the tip into yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog section.
  10. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Let the crescent dough sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before using to prevent cracking. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs; 2 to 3 strips per mummy is ideal. Space the mummies apart on the baking sheet to avoid them baking into one blob. Check the oven at 10 minutes as baking times vary. For a crowd, double the batch. To make ahead, assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate, then bake just before serving. For freezing, freeze unbaked mummies for up to 2 months and bake straight from frozen, adding 3 to 5 minutes to the cooking time.
