A simple and foolproof crockpot ribs recipe using only three ingredients that delivers tender, flavorful meat with minimal effort. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 to 3 pounds baby back ribs or St. Louis-style ribs
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon dry seasoning rub (paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper)
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar or Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Remove the thin silver membrane from the back of the ribs using a sharp knife (about 5 minutes).
  2. Rub the ribs all over with the dry seasoning mix, covering both sides evenly (3 minutes).
  3. Place the ribs in the crockpot, coiling or laying flat. Cut ribs if needed to fit (2 minutes).
  4. Pour the barbecue sauce evenly over the ribs. If using vinegar or Worcestershire sauce, mix it into the BBQ sauce first (2 minutes).
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours.
  6. Optional: For a caramelized finish, preheat the oven broiler. Transfer ribs to a foil-lined baking sheet, baste with extra BBQ sauce, and broil for 3 to 5 minutes until bubbling and caramelized.
  7. Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before slicing between the bones.

Notes

Remove the silver membrane for better flavor and tenderness. Use a good quality BBQ sauce for best results. Cooking on LOW for 6-8 hours yields the most tender ribs. Broiling at the end is optional but adds a nice caramelized finish. Avoid overcrowding the crockpot to ensure even cooking. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat best in the oven wrapped in foil.
