These festive red, white, and blue layered jello shots are a quick, easy, and eye-catching party treat perfect for patriotic celebrations or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin (Jell-O works great)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold vodka or sparkling water for a non-alcoholic version
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • ½ cup (120 ml) vodka or sparkling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • Mini plastic cups or silicone molds (1 oz / 30 ml size)
  • Cooking spray or oil (to lightly grease cups for easy release if using molds)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the red layer: In a medium bowl, dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) of red flavored gelatin into 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir well until fully dissolved, about 2 minutes. Add ½ cup (120 ml) cold vodka or sparkling water and mix gently. Pour into mini cups, filling each about one-third full. Chill in the refrigerator for 30–40 minutes, until firm but still slightly tacky to the touch.
  2. Make the white layer: While the red layer chills, sprinkle 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) of unflavored gelatin over ½ cup (120 ml) cold water. Let it bloom for 5 minutes. In a small saucepan, warm 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk gently over low heat (do not boil). Stir the bloomed gelatin into the warm milk until dissolved, then remove from heat and stir in ½ cup (120 ml) cold vodka or sparkling water. Let cool slightly but not set.
  3. Layer the white over the red: Once the red layer is tacky, slowly spoon the white mixture over it, filling cups to about two-thirds full. Return to the fridge and chill for 40–50 minutes, until set but still slightly tacky.
  4. Prepare the blue layer: Dissolve 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry gelatin in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Stir well and add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka or sparkling water. Allow it to cool to room temperature but not set.
  5. Finish with the blue layer: Carefully spoon the blue gelatin over the white layer, filling cups to the top. Chill again for at least 2 hours, or until fully set and firm.
  6. Serving: Once set, these festive jello shots are ready to pop out or serve straight in the cups. Keep them chilled until serving time to maintain their shape and vibrant layers.

Notes

Patience is key for perfect layers; let each layer set until tacky before adding the next to prevent colors from bleeding. Cool the next layer before pouring to avoid melting the previous layer. Store refrigerated up to 3 days; avoid freezing. Non-alcoholic versions can use sparkling water or fruit juice instead of vodka.
