A simple and refreshing cucumber mint water recipe that enhances hydration with a crisp cucumber flavor and cooling mint aroma. Perfect for hot days, post-workout, or anytime you want a flavorful, calorie-free drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium cucumber, thinly sliced (about 2025 slices)
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, lightly bruised
  • 1 quart (4 cups / 950 ml) filtered water, cold or room temperature
  • 1/2 lemon, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Ice cubes, as needed for serving

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the cucumber thinly (about 1/8 inch or 3 mm thickness).
  2. Rinse fresh mint leaves and pat dry. Place them in a pitcher and gently bruise using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to release oils.
  3. Add cucumber slices over the bruised mint leaves in the pitcher.
  4. Add optional lemon slices to the pitcher if using.
  5. Pour 4 cups (1 quart) of cold filtered water into the pitcher and stir gently to combine.
  6. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 4 hours or overnight for best flavor. Alternatively, steep at room temperature for 30 minutes then chill before serving.
  7. Before serving, stir gently, add ice cubes to glasses, and pour the infused water over the ice. Garnish with a mint sprig or cucumber ribbon if desired.
  8. Store leftover water refrigerated and consume within 24 hours. Remove cucumber and mint if storing longer to avoid bitterness.

Notes

Use organic cucumbers to avoid waxy coatings. Bruise mint leaves gently to release oils without bitterness. Adjust steeping time to taste to avoid bitterness. Consume within 24 hours for best freshness. Lemon is optional and adds brightness. Variations include adding fruits, herbs, or a pinch of sea salt for electrolyte boost.
