A fast and easy recipe for crispy waffle sandwiches using frozen waffles, deli meat, and cheese, perfect for quick meals at any time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 frozen waffles, plain or flavored
  • 68 slices deli turkey or ham
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or American)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • Optional spreads: Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, or honey mustard
  • A handful of fresh greens (spinach or arugula, optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Take 4 frozen waffles out of the freezer and let them sit for 2-3 minutes to soften slightly.
  2. Spread about ½ tablespoon of softened butter evenly on one side of each waffle.
  3. On two waffles, buttered side down, layer 3-4 slices of deli turkey or ham, then a slice of cheese. Add any optional spreads or greens now.
  4. Top with the remaining waffles, buttered side up.
  5. Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and let it warm for about 2 minutes.
  6. Carefully place one sandwich in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, pressing lightly with a spatula to help the cheese melt and the waffles brown evenly. Flip gently and repeat with the second sandwich.
  7. Look for a golden-brown crust on both sides and melted cheese inside. If cheese isn’t fully melted, lower the heat and cover the pan for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Remove sandwiches from the skillet and let rest on a plate for a minute before slicing in half.

Notes

Let waffles soften slightly before cooking to avoid burning outside and cold inside. Butter waffles generously for a crispy golden crust. Use medium heat to prevent burning or sogginess. Press lightly with spatula while cooking. Cover pan if cheese needs more melting. Avoid multitasking to prevent burning.
